Public records

The Elkhart Police Department records department is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Individuals may request information at any time, subject to Indiana Code 5-14-3.  Click HERE to download a public record request form to bring with you.

 

 

**The records department will only fingerprint individuals for certain qualifying employment related needs**

***The records department does NOT accept $50.00 or $100.00 bills.  However, does accept debit cards and credit cards (VISA or Mastercard).***

  • US Government issued photo ID

Background Checks

  • Adult
  1. US Government issued photo ID
  2. Social Security Card
  • Juvenile
  1. US Government issued photo ID
  2. Must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian with photo ID in any form
  3. Birth Certificate (to validate parents ID)
  4. Social Security Card
  5. Certified guardianship paperwork from the court signed by the Judge.
  • Juvenile Records
  1. Juvenile record checks requested either by the individual themselves for another party will be referred to the Elkhart County Juvenile Court System for information regarding any arrest that is on record.
